Sampdoria boss Sinisa Mihajlovic backed old friend Roberto Mancini to become new Italy Coach.
“I hope Mancini becomes the new CT,” the Serb commented.
They worked together as teammates at Sampdoria and Lazio, then Mihajlovic was Mancio’s assistant manager at Inter.
He is the hot favourite to replace Cesare Prandelli, who resigned in the wake of a first round World Cup elimination.
“Who has impressed me at the World Cup? Joel Campbell of Costa Rica,” added Mihajlovic.
“He impressed me in the first match, then he did a little less well, but he’s very good.
“There are a lot of South American boys who are very good but haven’t been noticed.
“Will any of them sign for Samp? We don’t have a lot of money, if I could get someone for free…”
The 22-year-old has been instrumental in helping the Central Americans be the surprise package of the tournament in Brazil thus far.
