Arturo Vidal said Chile “fought for a dream” and are hurt to go out of the World Cup to Brazil on penalties.
The 1-1 draw after 120 minutes pushed the hosts all the way to a shoot-out, which they scraped 3-2.
“It’s really tough to go out like this,” Juventus midfielder Vidal told FIFA.
“We played an excellent game and gave it our all. I am happy with the performance of my teammates.
“We tried to fight for a dream, but didn’t succeed.”
Vidal had been a major doubt to feature in this tournament at all, as he underwent knee surgery last month.
