Italy elimination to cost €56m?

Italy’s failure at this summer’s World Cup could cost them as much as €56m, according to reports.

La Repubblica believe that the Azzurri’s exit at the group stages from the tournament will affect them not only in terms of image, but also monetarily.

The paper claims that several sponsors are set to end their link with the national team after their elimination.

A number of brands are thought to have become disillusioned with the Italy’s performances, and therefore don’t want to maintain their link with the side.

The FIGC are now on the hunt for new companies to form an association with the Azzurri.
