Shkodran Mustafi’s World Cup with Germany looks to be over, having suffered a hamstring injury on Monday evening.
The Sampdoria man was a late entry into the squad headed out for Brazil, taking Marco Reus’ spot on the plane after he suffered injury in pre-tournament preparations.
However, the youngster’s own summer campaign looks to have also ended prematurely, after he was stretchered off during the second half of Germany’s eventual extra-time win over Algeria in the Round of 16.
Initial diagnosis is that the 22-year-old has suffered a hamstring injury, with Coach Joachim Low commenting as a result that: “He will be out for at least two to three weeks.”
