It is reported that Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli will today undergo surgery to cure an ankle problem.
The veteran, who featured in Italy’s disappointing World Cup campaign, has been struggling with injuries throughout the course of the season.
Tuttosport say it was decided some time ago that Barzagli would go under the knife this summer, and according to the report today is that day.
The player is said to have flown to Finland for the operation, and it is stated that his recovery time will put him out of action until late September or early October.
This means he is set to miss the start of the Old Lady’s defence of their Scudetto.
