Juventus President Andrea Agnelli bitterly attacked Cesare Prandelli and Giancarlo Abete for “abandoning” Italy.

The Coach and President of the FIGC resigned within moments of their World Cup group exit, as Prandelli today began a new job at Galatasaray.

“Abete and Prandelli walked away at the moment they were most needed and now I see Prandelli has already gone into a happy marriage in Turkey, where there is less fiscal pressure,” blasted Agnelli to reporters.

“Stepping aside is not the kind of gesture that our football needs right now. I do not thank Abete for abandoning us.”

Agnelli and several other club Presidents are against the prime candidate to take over the Federation Presidency, Carlo Tavecchio.

“People recognise authority in the likes of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Michel Platini. I struggle to recognise the same qualities in Tavecchio.”

The 71-year-old is currently the President of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti – the amateur League.

The Federation will hold it elections on August 11 and cannot appoint a new Italy Coach before then.
