Mike Tyson has empathised with Luis Suarez following the Uruguayan forward’s bite on Giorgio Chiellini.
The incident occurred during the World Cup match between the South American nation and Italy last month, which Uruguay eventually won 1-0.
The 27-year-old striker was given a four-month worldwide ban from football as a result but Tyson, having infamously bitten off a part of fellow boxer Evanda Holyfield’s ear during a fight, says he understands what Suarez must have been thinking.
“Suarez’s bite? I understand it, it was a blackout moment which can happen at times,” Tyson is quoted as saying by Corriere dello Sport.
“It was just one moment in which the competition can make the blood in your veins boil and it overpowers your rationality.
“Sometimes you become something that you are not.”
