Newly appointed Inter Vice-president Javier Zanetti says he hopes to remain useful to the club in his new role.
The Argentine retired from playing at the end of last season, having turned out for the Nerazzurri for 19 years but it was always inevitable he would remain at San Siro behind the scenes.
“I will look to be useful for Inter as Vice-president,” Zanetti is quoted as saying by Calcio News 24.
“We have had a lot of success but there is still a lot to do in order to remain high up.
“In life I have always followed my dream and after a lot of sacrifices I reaped the rewards.
“During the less beautiful moments I could have transferred to Real Madrid, but together with my family I chose to stay in Milan to repay the affection of the fans and try to win things.
“Then, the trophies arrived.”
