Adil Rami will return to Milan after paying €500,000 to cover the gap with Valencia, confirmed Adriano Galliani.
The report emerged this afternoon that the French defender would accept a large pay cut in order to push through the transfer.
“The player will be at Milanello with the rest of the squad tomorrow,” CEO Galliani told SportItalia this evening.
“We don’t have the signature yet, as the President is busy, but the agreement is very close to completion.
“We improved our offer to Valencia, as the difference was made by the player to ensure the transfer. He deserves a lot of credit for that.”
The 28-year-old helped Milan raise their bid from €3.75m to Valencia’s demands of €4.25m.
Rami played at San Siro for the last six months, but the Rossoneri refused to pay the agreed buy-out clause of €7m and began extensive negotiations.
