Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini says he is pleased with his club’s signing of Alessandro Matri on an initial loan deal.
The out of favour Milan forward will link up with his new Rossoblu teammates at pre-season training next Monday, with his arrival softening the blow of the loss of Alberto Gilardino to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
“They have characteristics which are clearly different,” Gasperini said when asked to compare the two frontmen.
“Matri is definitely stronger in the penalty area, maybe he is more dynamic. He is arriving with a desire for a fresh start.”
