Thiago Silva insists Brazil “did not deserve to end like this” after another heavy World Cup defeat to Holland.
The 7-1 semi-final to Germany was followed by this 3-0 rout for third place, as the hosts have conceded 10 goals in the last two games.
“The main feeling is frustration,” the captain told reporters.
“We dreamed of this World Cup and I had sleepless nights thinking about it. We did not deserve to end like this.
“The sorrow is too great, to go home and know that you failed.”
This is the first time in Brazil’s entire history that they have lost two consecutive competitive matches.
Thiago Silva had missed the 7-1 defeat to Germany because of a ban, but within 85 seconds tonight had given away a penalty for tugging back Arjen Robben.
