Gonzalo Rodriguez spoke of his joy after officially renewing his contract with Fiorentina.
The defender put pen to paper on a new deal tying him to the Viola until June 2017.
“I am very happy and there were never problems negotiating the renewal, so it was easy to sign the new contract,” he said in a Press conference.
“We need to improve, even if other teams have great players, as we want to win something this season. We’ve got important players too.
“What are my objectives? I always say to win a trophy, whether it’s the Coppa Italia or the Europa League. Of course, getting a place in the Champions League would also be wonderful.”
Juan Guillermo Cuadrado is hot property on the transfer market and wanted by the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
“Juan is an intelligent guy, he has always given everything for the Viola jersey. Of course he is very important for us, the best in the world in his position.
“We’d be very happy if he stayed, but we know it will be very difficult to keep hold of him.”
Rodriguez was in the running for a spot in Argentina’s World Cup squad and is cheering them on against Germany tonight.
“Being left out is in the past now. I am going to support Argentina and winning a World Cup would be wonderful for the country.”
