Martin Demichelis claims Brazilians “threw fireworks at 4am” to keep Argentina awake ahead of the World Cup Final with Germany.
There is a strong rivalry between Argentina and Brazil, so the locals would not want to see the Albiceleste lift the trophy in Rio de Janeiro tonight.
“Even if they threw fireworks at 4am outside the hotel to stop us from getting any sleep, today there are 40m Argentineans united for glory,” said Demichelis.
There was a different atmosphere in the same area a few hours later, as Boca Juniors fans arrived on a bus to stage an encouragement party for the squad.
