Milan’s reluctance to spend in the transfer window reportedly has them ready to offer out Ignazio Abate in exchange for Domenico Criscito.

The Rossoneri have emerged in recent days as interested in bringing left-back Criscito back to the peninsula this summer.

Amid interest in Genoa’s Sime Vrsaljko seemingly ending on the Grifone’s asking price, attention has apparently increased in the Italy-capped defender.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport indicate today that they are not willing to spend any more in the summer transfer window, so are thinking to a player exchange to try and tempt Zenit St Petersburg into negotiations.

It is understood that the San Siro side are prepared to offer Ignazio Abate out to the Russians in a swap deal for the 27-year-old.

Whilst Abate is a right-back, the Gazzetta suggest Criscito’s potential arrival would see Mattia De Sciglio moved from the left to right wing to accommodate.
