Gonzalo Higuian has revealed that he has never felt more proud to be an Argentine, despite last night’s defeat.
The Napoli striker started in yesterday’s World Cup final, but missed a host of chances as the Albicelestes lost 1-0 to Germany in Rio.
But the Partenopei goalscorer has claimed that he is still a fervent patriot even in the midst of anguish.
“In times like this I feel even more proud to be an Argentine,” he posted on his official Twitter account.
“I have no words to express my thanks for the love and support that the fans have given us.
“Thank you Argentina!”
