Mauro Icardi is delighted with how the new Inter is shaping up ahead of the new season.
Under Erick Thohir’s ownership, the Nerazzurri have already confirmed the signings of Nemanja Vidic and Yann M’Vila.
And the striker has insisted that even though there is likely to be competition for places, everyone in the squad is excited for the upcoming campaign.
“I like how Thohir is working,” he told Corriere dello Sport. “I’m really happy with how this new Inter is looking.
“This is not the same team that won everything a few years ago – we have reset with a young base.
“As I always say, the results have to be seen at the end of the season. But I think with the competition we have in the squad, we will do well.
“Champions League? We’re thinking about the Europa League at the moment – but at the end of the season, who knows?”
The Argentine forward then commented on Coach Walter Mazzarri.
“He works a lot on tactics and how we’re playing as a team. But that doesn’t mean we’re shirking the physical work!
“You never know what’s going to happen in Serie A, so we have to work as hard as possible now in order to feel the benefit later in the season.
“We want to return this club to its former glory.”
