Hernan Crespo is new Coach of the Parma youth team, but reveals he’d “given my word to Clarence Seedorf” at Milan.
The former Lazio, Inter, Milan and Chelsea striker returned ‘home’ to the Stadio Tardini as the manager of their Primavera side this week.
“Coming home in this new guise is really satisfying and I feel very priviledged,” said Crespo at his presentation.
“I am nobody yet as a Coach, so I thank Parma for giving me this opportunity. The team must realise it is part of a great club.”
Crespo confirmed rumours that he had been set to join Milan as Seedorf’s assistant manager before the Dutchman was sacked.
“There was a proposal from Parma in recent months, but I had given my word to Seedorf at Milan, then for numerous reasons I ended up coming here.
“I could’ve taken over a club side in Argentina, but I turned it down. Now I am focused on the present and on Parma.
“I am excited by the idea of an important project and it is great to work with players.”
