Giuseppe Biava says he is dreaming of joining his hometown club Atalanta, following his departure from Lazio.
The veteran defender is currently a free agent, having turned down the chance to stay with the Biancocelesti, a decision he claims was based entirely on personal reasons.
“Leaving Lazio was all down to the family, the distance [between us] was starting to get to me,” Biava told Radio Sei. “In Rome it was also the end of a cycle, I’d already given my all there.
“I want to continue to play, but close to home, even though my age is starting to get to me after a year in which I had too many injuries.
“The President tried to convince me to stay and sign a new contract. It was very sad because I could have stayed to teach the youngsters and help them learn.
“Now I’m dreaming of Atalanta, there is a 50 per cent chance I will be going home.”
