The hot favourite to be next FIGC President, Carlo Tavecchio, said Antonio Conte “has the right profile” to be Italy Coach.
A new tactician to replace Cesare Prandelli cannot be appointed until the Federation elects a President, as Giancarlo Abete also resigned after the World Cup exit.
According to numerous reports, the Lega Serie A factions are coming together around Tavecchio ahead of the planned election in three weeks.
“Conte certainly has the right profile for the Nazionale bench,” said current President of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (amateur league) Tavecchio today.
“Anyone who has won as much as him surely has to be. But he’s not the only Coach in Italy.”
Conte is now a free agent after terminating his contract with Juventus by mutual consent on Tuesday.
