In a surprise development, Milan could sell Robinho to Cruzeiro rather than MLS side Orlando City.
The Brazilian striker is on his way out of San Siro, but has so far struggled to find a suitable destination in a saga that has been dragging on for over a year.
Orlando City – who will join the MLS in March 2015 – confirmed they were in negotiations with Milan for the 30-year-old this week.
However, Sky Sport Italia claim this evening that Cruzeiro have leapt to the front of the race with an unexpected offer.
Robinho is now said to be discussing terms with the Brazilian club and it could be finalised as early as Wednesday.
