Nemanja Vidic admits that Dejan Stankovic played a key role in convincing him to join Inter, as he is enthusiastic to being followed by Javier Hernandez.
Vidic has this week considered his adaptation to life with the Nerazzurri follow eight years at Manchester United and alongside talking with the Gazzetta dello Sport also sat down with Sky Sport Italia.
With the latter, focus was on the influence the club’s former Serbian midfielder Stankovic played in convincing the 32-year-old to come to San Siro.
“Deki has been here for 10 years and has always spoken well of Inter, of all those who work here and of the fans,” Vidic has considered to Sky.
“He has always said very positive things about the club, he is one of the reasons why I chose to come to Inter and I am slowly finding out why.
“Tactics? I have yet to adapt to the three man defence. It is not that I do not suit it, but these are only friendlies, let’s see how it goes. Then, if I am physically fit, everything comes easier in the field.”
Speculation is that Inter are interested in Vidic’s former teammate at Old Trafford, Javier Hernandez.
“Chicharito is a great player. I played with him for several years, he was very important for us at United, he scored many important goals, especially when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager.
“He is a great professional, whilst [sporting director Piero] Ausilio knows how to do his job and if that means bringing here a great champion then yes, I think he would be a good buy for any team.”
Vidic was asked about his reputation as a hard man in the game.
“I had this reputation in England, but I do not think that my game is based only on my physical presence. If people see it that way or not, I do not mind.”
The defender was also asked about previous links to Milan.
“As I said at the Press conference, I have never had any contact with Milan, so for me the matter is closed.”
