Inter held Manchester United to a goalless draw in Washington overnight, but were ultimately defeated on penalties.
The Nerazzurri and Red Devils played out a stalemate in their International Champions Cup meeting in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The most notable point during the 90 minutes was the Premier League side’s late calls for a penalty turned down, after Tom Cleverley was felled by Marco Andreolli.
Taken to a penalty shoot-out, United converted all five of their spot-kicks to win the tie, as Andreolli missed Inter’s fourth kick.
