Reports from Tuesday evening suggested accelerated negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Saints were in place and that a deal was close to being agreed, with Saphir Taider likely to move in the opposite direction.

Today both Sky Sport Italia and the Gazzetta dello Sport believe that terms have now been agreed with Southampton for Osvaldo’s move, regardless of Taider’s future.

Whilst the Algeria international’s potential switch to the Premier League remains in the balance, it is understood that Inter have negotiated an initial free loan for the season for Osvaldo.

Agreeing also to a purchase option in place of €7m, the San Siro side are reportedly set to hand the 28-year-old a contract worth €2m plus bonuses a year. It was believed he was offered €2.5m-a-year by Olympiacos.

Reports are that everything to the transfer is now in place and that only final confirmation is holding up its announcement and completion.
