De Vrij wanted 'Italian education'

New Lazio signing Stefan De Vrij snubbed other offers because “he wanted to learn the Italian art of defending.”

The Dutch international impressed at the World Cup, where he received a bronze medal in Brazil, and had been heavily linked with Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United.

“He believes that with Lazio he can become the best defender in the world,” agent Alex Kroes told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Italy is the country where they defend better than anywhere else, which is another reason why he chose to come here.
