“He believes that with Lazio he can become the best defender in the world,” agent Alex Kroes told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Italy is the country where they defend better than anywhere else, which is another reason why he chose to come here.

“De Vrij wanted to learn the Italian art of defending.”

Lazio took the 22-year-old from Feyenoord this week for a reported €9m.
