Sky Sport Italia claim ex-Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina could return to Serie A, but this time for Milan.
The shot-stopper is back at Liverpool after his one-season loan spell at the Stadio San Paolo, during which he famously became the first professional to save a Mario Balotelli penalty.
Napoli have made no secret of their desire to bring Reina in on a permanent basis, but failed to agree terms with Liverpool.
Now Sky Sport Italia insist Milan are in the running too and will discuss it with Reds directors during tonight’s International Champions Cup game in Charlotte, North Carolina. It kicks off at 23.30 UK time (22.30 GMT).
It is reported Rossoneri director Umberto Gandini was spotted making repeated trips from Milan’s base in Pittsburgh to New York City this week – where Liverpool’s US tour is organised.
Pippo Inzaghi’s men are hoping for another loan spell, but even then his wages of €3.5m per season are a heavy load.
Milan are also not in Europe this year.
