Verona wore Superman shirts today in honour of Vangelis Moras, who is donating bone marrow to his brother.
The 32-year-old Greece international defender made the journey to Australia this week to help his older brother Dimitris fight acute myeloid leukemia.
In a photograph the Verona player uploaded to Facebook, he was on a hospital bed with his 33-year-old brother and both were wearing Superman shirts.
The bone marrow transplant is reportedly scheduled for today.
As a response, Verona came out for today’s friendly match against Qatar club Al Khor wearing the same Superman shirts.
Hellas Verona have also set up a foundation called #SaveMoras to raise funds. “There are no superheroes, just real men. Forza Dimitris,” it read on the back of the shirt.
As for the match, Verona won 4-0 with Luca Toni bagging a brace, Nene and Michael Rabusic goals.
