The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Juventus’ Arturo Vidal throughout the close season, but a deal is still yet to be done amid reported concerns over the Chilean’s recent knee ligament problems.

According to English media sources, one target the Old Trafford club could turn to should they not sign Vidal is Milan’s De Jong.

De Jong was part of van Gaal’s Netherlands squad at the recent World Cup in Brazil and would be available for a much lower price than the likes of Vidal or Roma’s Kevin Strootman.
