Roberto Donadoni’s men started well, but Jonathan Biabiany and Raffaele Palladino finishes were too weak to trouble Guzan.

Antonio Mirante was made to work harder by Weimann, while Philippe Senderos had a goal ruled offside.

Biabiany and Ishak Belfodil again threatened on a couple more occasions and Guzan had to be on alert to deny Palladino’s solo effort.

Gabriel Paletta was decisive to charge down an Agbonlahor strike and Palladino was again wasteful, this time set up by Marco Cassani.

Villa could’ve won it at the final minute, but the crossbar kept out Darren Bent.
