Napoli have been beaten 2-1 by PSG as they continue preparations for their Champions League play-off with Athletic Bilbao.
Following a goalless first half at San Paolo this evening, Partenopei talisman Gonzalo Higuain came on as a substitute and took only five minutes to give the home side the lead.
Some neat link up play with Lorenzo Insigne ended with the Italy international firing a left foot shot which was saved by Nicolas Douchez, but Higuain was first to the loose ball and prodded home.
Rafa Benitez’s team led for barely three minutes though and the French champions were back on terms through a familiar source.
Azzurri keeper Rafael flapped at a cross, allowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic the simple task of firing home into an empty net.
A procession of substitutes followed before the Ligue 1 side bagged their winner with just under 15 minutes of the contest remaining.
Javier Pastore took advantage of being sloppily handed possession by the Napoli midfield, drove his way past Miguel Britos and fired home from inside the box.
Attention will now turn to the Partenopei’s critical two-legged tie with the Spanish side, which they must win in order to reach the Group Stage of Europe’s premier club competition once again.
