ADL causes stir at FIGC election

La Repubblica have revealed that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis caused a furore at Monday’s FIGC presidential election.

Members of the Italian football community convened in Rome earlier this week to decide on who should lead the Federation.

Carlo Tavecchio was eventually elected after three rounds of voting, but the paper believes that the Partenopei chief was very outspoken during the process.

De Laurentiis is accused of shouting “disgrace!” when referees’ chief Marcello Nicchi voted for Demetrio Albertini, with the AIA man replying: “ours is a free choice!”
