Dirk Kuyt believes that Roma have the quality to challenge Juventus for the Scudetto this season.
The Netherlands international was part of the Fenerbahce side that drew 3-3 with the Giallorossi in a friendly on Tuesday.
And speaking on his way back to Turkey, the forward insisted that the capital club have what it takes to lift some silverware this term – especially with Francesco Totti in the team.
“Roma are a strong team,” he told reporters. “They’ve kept all their best players and have brought in some more high-profile ones.”
“I, like everyone else, respect Totti so much. It’s amazing that he can still play at such a high level.
“It would be perfect if he could win the Scudetto with Roma this season – and I think they have a good chance.”
Kuyt then commented on countryman Kevin Strootman, who is still recovering from a knee injury.
“It was really disappointing to see him miss the World Cup. But I am convinced that that disappointment will make him even stronger.”
