Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Fiorentina target Sami Khedira has turned down a contract at Real Madrid.
The Germany international spent the majority of last season on the sidelines after suffering a ligament injury in November.
And with Toni Kroos coming in from Bayern Munich, it was widely suggested that the former Stuttgart man would leave Santiago Bernabeu.
The Italian tactician though, has claimed that the club actually offered the midfielder a renewal, but with a year to go on his initial contract, the 27-year-old has rejected the chance to stay.
“It’s a different situation to Di María. He’s not asked to go. He’s rejected an offer to renew, but has a year of contract. We’ll see what happens,” Ancelotti told reporters.
Fiorentina are thought to be one of a number of clubs, including Arsenal, interested in his services.
