Napoli will make a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro, Champions League football or not, reports Il Mattino.

The Vesuviani have spent all summer trying to bring in another midfielder to their squad, but have had little success so far, having been linked with Javier Mascherano, Mario Suarez and Lucas Leiva to name a few.

Marouane Fellaini was believed to be on the verge of securing an initial loan switch out to the San Paolo, before injury saw Napoli seemingly end their interest.

On from indications that they have turned their attention back to Tottenham’s Brazilian midfielder, Il Mattino update today on intentions.

The Naples-publication reports that the club are ready to sign Sandro during this final week of the transfer market, whether they qualify for the group stages of the Champions League or not.

However, terms of any deal are thought to hinge on progression to the next round of UEFA’s premier competition.

Should they dispatch Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Play-off round tie on Wednesday, the Vesuviani are thought ready to offer to buy Sandro outright, which is believed to be Spurs’ first choice, with an asking price apparently set at €9.5m.

However, if Rafa Benitez’s men find themselves in the Europa League, the adjusted budget will see the club table an offer for an initial loan move for the 2014-15 campaign.

Either way, it is believed that contact between the two clubs is due once more today and that even with potential obstacles on terms between them, the expectation is that Sandro will move to the San Paolo by September 1’s transfer deadline.
