Mario Gomez has conceded that he hopes a good season for Fiorentina can get him back in Germany contention.
The Viola striker missed the majority of his first season in Italy thanks to injury, and as such, was excluded from Joachim Low’s World Cup-winning squad.
And the striker has admitted that he is desperate to get back into the Mannschaft fold.
“Obviously I want to return to the national team,” he told Bild. “I will do anything to play again.
“But first I have to do well for Fiorentina. I’m ready for the new season. I’ve worked hard over the summer.
“We’ve got Roma in our first game, and I think that match will give us an idea of how well we’ve prepared.”
