The tournament underwent changes this summer when Siena and Padova went into liquidation, so was originally turned into a 21-team League.

However, an appeal was successful to expand it back to 22 sides and there is now a battle royal to see who will be given another shot at Serie B.

Novara were told their appeal was ineligible, as the club relegated into Lega Pro had been penalised for match-fixing.

Juve Stabia, Reggina and several others have now lodged their own appeal to be let back into Serie B as the 22nd team.

Today the Lega Serie B published the fixture list with an X filling in for the extra club.

This uncertainty means the opening weekend fixture – set for this Saturday – between Latina and X will be postponed to a later date.

There will now be 11 games per weekend rather than 10, with one team resting.
