It’s reported San Siro in Milan – the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza – will host the Champions League Final in 2016.
The venue had already been suggested some time ago, but first needed to undergo restructuring work.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, San Siro has been given the all-clear to host the Champions League Final in May 2016.
An official decision should be made on September 18, but this week FIGC Vice-President Antonello Valentini was confident.
“Milan is ready to host the 2016 Champions League Final. We are very satisfied with the work done alongside the council and the stadium consortium.
“As for Milan, we are also confident UEFA will assign a Euro 2020 game to Rome.”
Over the next three years, more work will be done at a cost of €22.5m.
Although officially called the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, it is commonly referred to as San Siro because of the area of the city it sits in.
