Giampiero Ventura believes Torino “brought back pride in these colours” with their first European competition in 20 years.
The Granata beat RNK Split 1-0 this evening in the Europa League play-off and go into the group stage along with Napoli, Fiorentina and Inter.
“We played well for 60-70 minutes, then if you don’t take your chances it’s only natural to suffer at the end,” the Coach told Sport Mediaset.
“If we look back to three years ago, it’s remarkable to see Torino enter Europe through the main door. It is satisfying for everyone: the fans, the city that rushed to the stadium tonight and will continue to do so.
“We brought back the desire to cheer on the team, the pride in these colours. After so many games, it is also very satisfying for my players.”
Alessio Cerci did not take part and Torino confirmed he has asked to leave with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid interested.
“I don’t know if he’ll stay or go. If he does leave, we’ll think of something,” noted Ventura.
