Fabio Quagliarella has been recalled to the Italy squad, and admits that he has always had a great relationship with Antonio Conte.

The veteran forward was a peripheral figure at the Bianconeri during Conte’s reign, and left the club this summer to sign for Torino.

But with the tactician leaving to take the Azzurri job, and Dani Osvaldo picking up an injury, the goalscorer has insisted that he had no qualms about accepting the call.

“With the boss I have always had a great relationship, even if I didn’t play that much,” he told Rai Sport.

“We had so many strikers at Juve that it was only normal that a few players had to be left out every Sunday.”

Quagliarella then commented on one of the pertinent issues in Italian football – the amount of foreign players in Serie A.

“I agree with the Coach – if there are a lot of foreigners in the League then it has to make a difference.

“Their inclusion should not come at the expense of a talented young Italian.”
