Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the former Italian Under-21 boss has backed the Juventus icon to be a success.

“I think that Conte is the right person at the right time,” the Bari tactician commented. “He has the right profile that was needed to get the side going again.

“Something he said the other day really struck me, when he underlined that he wanted his team to be something special.”

Conte, who replaced Cesare Prandelli after World Cup 2014 disaster, is set to use a number of Mangia’s former Azzurrini players against Holland this evening.

“I’m happy that the likes of Alessandro Florenzi, Ciro Immobile, Mattia De Sciglio, Mattia Destro and Stephan El Shaarawy have won a place in the senior side.

“And I’m convinced that there will be other youths who, sooner or later, will also be placed under consideration.”
