Keita Balde Diao has affirmed that Lazio are ‘not depressed’ for their defeat to Milan, as he asserts their ambitious mentality for 2014-15.

The Aquile have begun the season with defeat to the Rossoneri in Week 1, but their young attacking star is not downbeat.

“The game against Milan was difficult – we played well, with the intention of controlling the ball and the game, while they were looking for the break,” Keita has explained to Lazio Style Radio.

“We were very high up on the first goal and suffered to a counter-attack. We tried to play our game and I think we controlled the game, but we lacked malice to find the way to goal.

“We must now think about the game with Cesena and go all out. Here there are many strong player and we have high morale, whilst the whole team is pulling in the same direction – we are not down after the opening defeat.”

Keita also maintains an optimistic outlook for his and the club’s season ahead.

“I want to play more games than in the previous year and I want to do always better, scoring many goals.

“I always try to give my best for this shirt. I have been given an opportunity and have taken it with both hands.

“Lazio’s ambitions? We don't have to set any limit – the higher we can reach, the better for everyone.

“The team is great, the signings made have been of value. If we can finish first, second, third or fourth it would be good – we aim higher and higher.

“The lack of European football? We will be focused and determined now that we will play fewer games, since we're not in Europe.

“We need to return with a great season. I'm sure we can beat anyone.”

Against Cesena the team will be greeted by their home support, who have announced their intention to attend following months of non-attendance in protest against Claudio Lotito.

“For me it's very important that our supporters are present. It'll be good for us, we'll be happy and we'll have some extra positive tension.”

Lazio are working under Stefano Pioli this season, in a 4-3-3.

“I like the 4-3-3 a lot becuase I've been playing in this formation since I was a kid. The players in the squad are suitable for this tactic.

“And Pioli? He's a Coach who likes to play with the ball, he likes the attacking phase and compactness both in attack and defence.

“He communicates very well and this is great factor. He's tried to bring the team together since the start of summer and this is good for us.”

Keita’s teammate Miroslav Klose admitted this week his intention to move into management when he retires.

“I talked personally with him some time ago and we had joked about it. I'd see him perfectly in that role, he ticks all the boxes for the job.

“He's a great player and he will definitely be a great manager.”
