Borja Valero has admitted his Fiorentina outfit have the objective of finishing the Serie A season in the top three.

The Viola have ended the last two campaigns in fourth, but the Spanish midfielder is hoping to go one better in 2014-15.

“We’ll see about qualifying for the Champions League,” the 29-year-old noted. “It would be a beautiful target to reach, but it will be difficult.

“Saying that, we will be able to fight for it.”

The Tuscan outfit started the season with a 2-0 defeat at Roma and they’ve now lost star striker Giuseppe Rossi to injury again for another five months.

“We are all supporting Rossi,” he added. “Fiorentina do change when he is not in the side and he is a phenomenal player.

“We will look to give our best on the field of play even if we will feel the absence of a player like him.”

The Viola will entertain Genoa in Week 2 once Serie A resumes following the international break.
