Serie A minnows Sassuolo are delighted with the immediate international impact made by striker Simone Zaza.

The 23-year-old made his Italy debut last week in the 2-0 win over Holland and was on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory over Norway last night.

“We’re very proud of him and this situation delights us,” Sassuolo sporting director Nereo Bonato told TMW on Wednesday.

“Simone has demonstrated that he has important qualities, instantly settling into the new Italy squad with the right mentality.

“Boss Antonio Conte is counting on him and other youngsters. That is the winning formula. The new CT has a precise idea of how the team should play and the first signs are positive.”

Zaza joined Sassuolo from Juventus in 2013 on a co-ownership deal and they netted him outright in the summer for €7.5m.

“The Bianconeri have always monitored him and they can buy him back for €15m,” Bonato added. “They have never given up on the player, but Simone now needs to concentrate on improving.”

The Italian champions have a buy-back clause set at €15m if they sign him before June 30, 2015, or €18m between that date and June 30, 2016.
