The 35-year-old is currently on the treatment table aiming to come back from a hip injury sustained in training at the close of pre-season, but has revealed his optimism.

“The injury is going well,” Pirlo has told Sky Sport whilst visiting the MotoGP paddock alongside Andrea Agnelli today.

“Next week I'm going to do some tests and then well see how it goes, see if I can starting kicking a ball.”

The hope for Juve is that the veteran will be back in time to face former side Milan in Week 3.

“I'm not sure yet. We'll see how the tests go on Monday and then we'll see day by day.

“This is an important season, as tough as any other, between the League, the Champions League, Coppa Italia and national team.

“We began well on the first day and tomorrow we start again in the true sense of the word, because from there it will be a series of important games that will launch this season.”
