Speculation was that Aurelio De Laurentiis was in the United States this week to meet with potential investors, in an apparent attempt to aid financing of the club’s stadium.

However, yesterday evening the club released a statement denying all rumours to that effect.

“In relation to the feared existence of negotiations regarding the sale of all or part of SSC Napoli S.p.A. to American or Qatari business groups and looking for possible partners for the financing of a new stadium, please note that this information is completely without foundation,” Napoli have stated.

“We therefore categorically deny the existence of any kind of negotiations concerning the sale of SSC Napoli S.p.A. as well as the search for investors hypothesised to be associated with the construction of a new facility to house football matches of the first team of Napoli.”
