Alessandro Florenzi revealed he hugged his grandmother in the stands because “it was the first time she’d come to the stadium.”

The Roma star found the net in today’s 2-0 win over Cagliari and celebrated by running into the crowd to embrace his ‘Nonna.’

“She is 82 and had never been to the stadium,” Florenzi told Sky Sport Italia.

“After I played for Italy, she told me that she’d come to the stadium and I would score. My family gave me this passion for football, I want to share my joy with everyone.”

The grandmother was visibly moved and dabbed her eyes with a tissue after the embrace.

Florenzi was booked for over-celebrating, but Coach Rudi Garcia was confident he’d think the fine was “well worth it” for this gesture.
