The Vesuviani have endured a difficult start to the season having followed up early Champions League elimination with back-to-back defeats in Serie A to Chievo and Udinese.

For Di Carlo, however, an element of misfortune has played its part.

“It’s hard to understand how they have arrived at these defeats,” the 50-year-old former Parma, Chievo and Sampdoria boss has told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Everything has gone wrong for Napoli, since against both Chievo and Udinese they did not deserve to lose. The Azzurri are currently paying with a goal for just single attempts against them.

“I don’t agree with the statements of Stramaccioni, because he has to focus on Udinese and not on Napoli.

“The Coach is responsible for his decisions and when he receives criticism he has to ride it out.

“Speaking from my own experience, I say that to do well the club, Coach, technical staff and squad must regroup.

“There is still much time and Napoli have the chance to fight for the top positions. The whole club must be united and work in this direction.”
