Miroslav Klose has backed Stefano Pioli to come good at Lazio, despite it being the club’s worst start to a season in 54 years.

The Aquile’s defeat to Udinese on Thursday evening made it three losses from the opening four rounds of Serie A, for apparently the first time in the club’s history since the 1960-61 season.

Even so, the team’s German centre-forward believes that the work being done under Pioli will bring results in the end.

“We are all behind Pioli, he is a really good Coach,” Klose has told Sky Sport Italia after yesterday’s defeat.

“Even if the table seems to state quite the contrary, I can fairly state that this is the strongest Lazio side I’ve played in since I’ve been here.

“You can’t see it yet, but I think it’s true. We are on the right path and luck will soon be back on our side.

“Throughout the week, we train really well. Now we only have to show this on the pitch.”

In the game against Udinese, Pioli even fielded Klose alongside Filip Djordjevic in the second half, showing that they can play well together.

“I feel at ease with him – he is a really good player and he moves very well between the lines.”
