A section of the Russian club’s travelling support clashed with stewards during their side’s 5-1 defeat to Roma in the first round of Champions League group stage action in September.

This and the throwing of flares into sections of the Giallorosso support briefly disrupted play on the field and saw UEFA launch an investigation into the matter. UEFA also listed ‘racists behaviour of supporters’ in that inquiry.

Meeting today to determine action, the European game’s governing body has hit CSKA with a three-game stadium ban, ruling that they must play their next three home matches in European football behind closed doors.

This will include Roma’s November 25 trip out to the Arena Khimki.

Additionally, CSKA have been handed a €200,000 fine and the club is banned from selling tickets to its supporters for the next away game in their Champions League group, at Manchester City.
