Bologna are close to being taken over by a group led by Canadian investor Joey Saputo and American lawyer Joe Tacopina.

Corriere di Bologna reports that Tacopina flew in to Marconi airport yesterday, and the deal was completed late last night.

Whilst no official confirmation has come through from Bologna, pictures were released of the relevant documents being signed in a local hotel.

“It’s done. It’s all done. We’ve signed the contract,” Tacopina is quoted as telling the publication.

“On Wednesday, as planned, we will enter closing. I’m happy for all of us.”

Joey Saputo is the founder of MLS side Montreal Impact, who already have a connection with the Rossoblu in the form of Marco Di Vaio, who spent four years in Emilia-Romagna, and may take up a non-playing role with the club when he retires at the end of the MLS season.

“We're waiting for it to be confirmed on October 15th,” the striker told TSN.

“I hope everything goes well. After, we'll see if there's a possibility to work again with Joey and with Bologna.

“It's important for the future of the club and the city. If they close the contract, it would be a great moment.”
