Chievo Coach Eugenio Corini looks forward to facing Roma on Saturday, as he believes they can cause an upset.

“Roma have absolute quality and structured a top level squad, which for me is on a par with Juventus,” said Corini in his Press conference.

“However, if Chievo are still in Serie A then it is thanks to big results in big games. I’ve had a few of those at this club both as a player and a Coach.

“We faced down top level teams, winning at Napoli, while in others we didn’t make the most of our chances.

“Roma like to keep the ball and spend most of the game in your half, using their possession to tire out the opponents. I watched back their game with Verona and the two wingers were acting like full-backs. They are capable of pinning you back, so we have to counter them with focus and hit them on the break.”

Corini confirmed Ezequiel Schelotto and Alessandro Gamberini have shaken off injuries.

The former Juventus midfielder was also asked to comment on the controversy that followed Roma’s 3-2 defeat in Turin.

“It’s the usual game. Juve have 50 per cent of Italians who love them and 50 per cent who hate them. It was a very fast-paced game with Roma in which decisions were always at the limit.

“If we talk so much about sporting culture and then complain about refereeing decisions is one thing. If you see something actually shady like 10 years ago, then it has to be reported.”

There are reports Roma could now receive decisions in their favour to ‘balance’ a perceived slight against Juventus.

“I fear Roma, but I do not fear the referee,” insisted Corini. “I believe everyone works in good faith.”
